gabflyMEDIA creates independent multimedia.
It was started in 2011 by Timothy Gabb, and now operates as a small-scale production company in and of itself, whilst freelancing in writing, photography, filming and editing.
The name comes from Plato’s The Apology, where Socrates calls himself the “stinging gadfly on the horse of Athens”, designed “to sting people and whip them into a fury, all in the service of truth.”
At the core of gabflyMEDIA, you will find a shared sentiment to the origin of the name: themes of travel, compassion and social justice permeate throughout what I produce.
I operate out of Cape Town, South Africa, and offer storytelling services in various forms.
